Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor loss prevention programs, procedures, and policies to reduce risk and improve safety performance in oil and gas facilities.

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety studies (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, FERA, EERA) to identify potential hazards and develop effective mitigation measures.

  • Review and evaluate process safety information, including safety procedures, equipment specifications, and safety system design to ensure compliance with ADNOC and international standards.

  • Provide technical expertise in fire and explosion prevention, gas dispersion, toxic release modeling, and emergency response planning.

  • Work closely with project and operations teams to review design specifications, safety systems, and equipment layouts to optimize safety and operational efficiency.

  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, regulatory requirements, and best industry practices.

  • Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and safety-related concerns, and develop actionable recommendations for improvement.

  • Coordinate with ADNOC representatives, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure all loss prevention measures align with regulatory requirements.

  • Train and mentor junior engineers and site personnel on loss prevention techniques, safety practices, and ADNOC standards.

  • Develop reports, presentations, and documentation on loss prevention activities, findings, and recommendations for management and ADNOC as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety Engineering) or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in loss prevention and HSE within the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in a senior role.

  • ADNOC approval as a Loss Prevention Engineer is mandatory.

  • Proven expertise in conducting and leading safety studies, such as HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, FERA, and EERA.

  • Strong knowledge of ADNOC HSE standards and regulatory requirements in the UAE.

  • Familiarity with fire and gas detection systems, fire suppression systems, and explosion protection technologies.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
