Job description
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Organizing Lifting Operations:
Develop and implement lifting plans for various materials and equipment.
Select appropriate lifting equipment and methods, ensuring they are suitable for the load and conditions.
Assess and mitigate potential hazards associated with lifting operations.
Supervision of Lifting by Crane:
Oversee the rigging and slinging of loads, ensuring correct hooking methods are used.
Coordinate with crane operators and riggers to ensure precise and safe lifting.
Monitor the lifting process, making adjustments as needed to maintain safety and efficiency.
Supervision of Lifting by Chain Block, Hoist, and Jacks:
Plan and supervise the use of chain blocks, hoists, and jacks for lifting operations.
Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and properly rated for the intended load.
Provide guidance and direction to the lifting team during operations.
Supervision of Horizontal Movement:
Organize and supervise the horizontal movement of materials using skates, rollers, and other moving machinery.
Ensure the safe transportation of materials across the site, considering weight distribution and path stability.
Coordinate with team members to prevent accidents or damage during movement operations.
Team Coordination and Communication:
Direct and supervise the work of slingers and other support staff.
Communicate clearly with all team members, providing instructions and feedback as necessary.
Ensure all team members are aware of and adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on lifting equipment.
Investigate and report any incidents or near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience as a Lifting Supervisor or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging techniques, and safety procedures.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Relevant certifications or qualifications in lifting operations (e.g., crane operation, rigging, safety management).
Ability to assess risks and implement appropriate control measures.
